That VHS tape was then brought into my home combo Broksonic DVD Recorder/VCR (DRVCR-900) to be converted to DVD via my television hookup. The VHS was videoed using a Panasonic VHS Camcorder. In this case I would just download or copy MP3,WAV or what ever if you want to play the audio CD on a standard CD player be it PC, Walkman or whatever. If you rip the CDA files to MP3 you will lose the DTS digital effect in which makes the quality of the sound reproduction. If you are trying to play through your PC using DTS decoder software and your sound card and/or speakers can’t handle 5.1 surround, the audio output will default to 2 channel audio. The CDA is assocated with DTS and needs to be played through a DTS decoder such as a DVD/CD player conected to an A/V recever with a DTS decoder or a DTS software decoder for PC. The file extention CDA is a DTS digital extention, kind of a CUE sheet or handler file to tell the DTS decoder what to do with the audio files, that is why the CDA file is only 1kb, the real audio files are hidden. CDA files can not be played on a standard DVD/CD player without a DTS decoder.

I have been having the same problems and I am still looking for some answers, here is what I have so far.

This image has to be created using some imaging standard. As suggested in this forum earlier, I tried to create an image file from NERO and use VCD Gear to extract mpg but it could not extract even though it recognised the nero image. The idea is to create an image file and then extract the mpg from the image file. There’s no software that would crack that VCD or rip or play. You can make copies of this VCD but it will play on VCD players connected to TV only and not on a PC. This problem occurs due to copyrighted VCD’s. Just skip a frame or two if the screen hangs. There would be some hiccups, resolution is not that great. Just right click on the track and select the extract option to convert into mpg and LO! it plays on Windows media player. It recognises the tracks on the VCD although XP does not ( purposely as its copyrighted). This software is used to recover data from lost or damaged image files.
